All for Him

I don’t know about you, but this week has been crazy. It’s so easy to reflect back and only notice the busyness without considering the impact. As we come to the end of the week and look forward to the weekend, it’s important to remember that the work we’ve done is ultimately for God. Super nuts work at week like mine? You are working for God. Craziness with the kids? You are caring for them for God. Lots of time volunteering? You’re investing into others for God.

This is why living with excellence is so important. We shouldn't work to meet our bosses standards, or to please our kids or spouses, or to look good to other people. We should work to God's standards and be pleased with the fact that whatever job He has given us to do today is for His purposes and pleasure.

It’s so easy for me to work to impress other people or for accolades or recognition. I’m someone who wants to be my best, be the first over the finish line, and set an example. I’ll be transparent, it feels good when I accomplish these things. But I have to make sure those wins aren’t for the sake of winning or getting kudos. I need to work unto God and keep His glory as my top priority. Only when I’m consistently pointing back to Him can I open the door for conversations with others about His love. I mean, come on...with everything He has done for me doesn’t He deserve all the honor??

Even more, I shouldn't just do the work, and do it well, I should give thanks for it! It is an honor that God has given us the responsibilities He has. He believes in you! He has a purpose for us, and our daily activities are a part of that purpose. I’m going to look back on the week and seek to see God in the work I’ve done. If I can’t find Him, now I know that something needs to change next week. When I focus on everything I do being for His glory, I’ll find Him, and my fulfillment will be found in Him.
