Dented But Beautiful

I find great freedom when I stop looking at my hurts, issues, mistakes, and wrong turns as flaws and start seeing them for what they really are. They’re a part of my journey. A part of my growth. A part of my beauty.

We’ve all acquired some scrapes, scratches, and dents along the way. These things help makes us who we are. We have to realize that we shouldn’t hide these things, we should allow God to USE these things.

When God brings His grace and love to my wounds, the outcome is something beautiful. It’s growth and patience, it’s understanding of another’s pain, it’s peace and trust. I see Him at work in my darkest times and the most wounded part of my heart. Not only do I see Him, but I reveal Him to others. I used to think that I needed to hide these scratches and dents. I’ve learned that people might be impressed by strength, but they relate to my struggles. And when God gives me the ability to overcome my battles, that shows others that they can count on Him to help them overcome theirs.

"....to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor." Isaiah 61:3

Scrapes are scars mean you survived, right?
