Loving Teacher

God gives us a lot of promises, but I think one of the most amazing ones is to be our loving teacher. He desires and expects for me to learn and grow. He guides me to be able to handle more and impact more over time. He gives me insight that I could never have on my own which helps me make decisions that will bring me a successful life. Success in reaching the lost for Him, relationships, and making a difference in the world because those are eternal things. But for Him to do that, I’ve got to be a good student.

How do I do that? First, I have to show up to school. That means that I set aside time and energy to learn.

I need to be deliberate about reading my Bible, prayer, worship, fasting, and coming together with my church family.

It’s easy to say that I don’t know what God wants me to do when in reality I haven’t put in the time and effort to ask. Instead of going to other people when I’m not clear on my next steps or God’s direction I should spend more time actually seeking Him and hearing His will directly from Him. 😉

Thus says the LORD…‘Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭33:2-3‬

Secondly, I have to be teachable. I can’t keep doing things the same way, ignoring what God is revealing to me, and expect Him to keep trying to teach me. How frustrating it must be for Him when we I’m not open! He made everything and knows how everything works. He’s the expert, not me.

I’m never going to be more right or as right as He is. I should ask Him, listen to what He says, and then take action. I show God that I honor His guidance by implementing it and growing.

Lastly, I share what I have learned with others. Anything God puts into me He expects from me. I am called to give the insights and direction that God has given to me to the people around me. This is the biggest sign that I have learned what He has taught me, when I can teach it to someone else.

Learning isn’t always easy, but how lucky are we that the one who knows everything loves us enough to show us the ways of life!
