One Thing that Lasts

Updated: Mar 10

In a world of constant change it can feel nearly impossible to find something that we can count on, that will truly last. One thing that we can know will, is the word of God. No matter what else in our lives move and shift His words never will.

What does that really mean? His promises are steadfast. His guidance is constant. His reassurances and thoughts toward us will never change. This is one of the true powers of the Bible. It is the written commitment between God and His people, far more powerful than any earthly contract.

This reinforces the necessity of regular time in the word. We can count on the fact that God will do what He says He will do. The commitments in the Bible don't come with an expiration date. If you need direction, or to find your value, or to hear the thoughts of the most faithful of friends, it is all there.

Let’s challenge ourselves today. If you don't usually spend time meditating on the Bible, spend five minutes. If you usually spend five, this week spend ten. Whatever time you usually commit, stretch it. Other activities have a fleeting impact, but the eternal word of our Father will never fade.
